If you enjoy quizs and like to support charity call in the Anne’s Horsefair News and collect the two available.

One is a Gardening Quiz in aid of the Boroughbridge Horticultural Society and the other one is the latest Beth and Brenda Quiz  for Jennyruth Workshops. Each quiz sheet costs £1. Prizes for the Gardening Quiz are £15, £10 and £5. Prizes for the Jennyruth Quiz are a Hare Silhouette, a Stag on a stand and a Mouse Dooor Stop.

Class7/0 at Boroughbridge High School are holding an Auction of Promises on 15 June 2011 to raise money for the Shaun Lee Johnstone Fund(Brain Tumour Research).

Promises to be auctioned include Man Utd museum/stadium tour, York City pass, vouchers and gifts from various businesses in and around Boroughbridge and vouchers for meals and local attractions such as Newby Hall and Harewood House.

The auction starts at 7pm, doors open 6.30pm. Tickets cost £5 and include delicious buffet.

Two of Ray Johnstone running colleagues from Ripon runners will be running in marathons this year in aid of the Shaun Lee Johnstone Fund. Fred Clapham will be running in the London Marathon and Matt Newsome will be at Edinburgh. If you wish to sponsor them go on to the website www.braintumourtrust.co.uk  and then to umbrella groups to find the Shaun Lee Johnstone Fund.

This is one of the local charities that Keith and I like to support. I have created a page using information supplied  by Shaun’s father explaining the purpose of the fund and why it was set up.

Beth and Brenda have been busy complying another quiz. The theme this time is Scotland and Yorkshire. Beths’ quiz is on Scotland and Brenda has done the one on Yorkshire. There are prizes for each one so at a cost of £1 it is great value. You can pick up a copy from Anne’s, Horsefair Newsagents, Boroughbridge. Completed quizs need to be returned by 31 July 2010.
