What a difference a year makes! January 2011 was snowy, icing and Freeeeezing!!!!
Yesterday afternoon was so warm I was out in the yard, weeding and netting the bulbs to protect them from our little feathered friends (we don’t have a garden so make do with pots and baskets). My garlic is two inches high already and the snowdrops are nearly in flower. I love this time of year, the old year with all its mistakes is behind me and being a Sagittarian, an eternal optimist, I expect a lovely Spring and glorious hot Summer.

The worst of the snow has gone and it is a lovely sunny Sunday. This afternoon Keith and I are walking round to St James Square to join in with the carol singing. It will get us into the Christmas spirit.
A robin visited the bird table this week . He looked beautifully unfortunately I didn’t have my camera handy so couldn’t get a picture. If he comes back I shall be better prepared.
Yesterday I started making up the hampers and Victorian jars that have been ordered. I also checked what icecream to get in from Brymor. If anyone needs a order for Christmas let me know tomorrow because the last order goes in Tuesday.
That reminds me according to the forecast the snow is due back Tuesday. I wonder if it will be around for Christmas.

We have a new addition to the shops on Horsefair. The empty corner unit is now “Curvy Bridal”, providing wedding gowns and outfits for brides and mother in laws who have more realistic figures. What ever the occasion, a wedding, day at the races, any posh do, Curvy Bridal should be your first stop. They have a website www.curvybridal.co.uk
Next door is Claire Marie, ladies fashion and assessories.
The next shop along is Boroughbridge Hardware, recently taken over by Chris. He has introduced many new lines, making it well worth a visit. I have bought several items for use in the kitchen.
We are situated between the hardware shop and Greenwoods butchers. John the butcher sells quality meat, his sausages are prize winners. He also can be hired to do a hog roast.
I have spent the summer seeking out suppliers of interesting products to go in our hampers and jars for this Christmas. The stock should be arriving shortly, when it does I’ll give you all a preview. Don’t forget we can make up a gift to suit the individual. Just let us know your requirements.

There are three standing stones just outside Boroughbridge on the way to Roecliffe, the tallest being over 22 feet tall. It is thought that they date from 2000 BC but who placed them and why is a mystery.
